Public Works
The Flowery Branch Public Works Department is comprised of 6 full time employees, 2 full time corrections officers and one superintendent. The Public Works Department is responsible for the care, maintenance and operation of the city water distribution system, the street lighting system, all city streets and sidewalks, parkways, and municipal buildings.
There was approximately 28 miles of streets that are maintained including pavement markings, curb and gutter maintenance, pavement reconstruction, crack sealing, bituminous patching and parkway maintenance.
The Public Works Department operates two prison work crews managed by two corrections officers/guards that oversee anywhere from 1 – 5 prisoners per day. The prison crews are responsible for the mowing and maintenance of public areas and right of ways as well as weekly citywide brush pick up.
To help residents with their environmental needs, the City of Flowery Branch offers residents reuse and recycling service through Red Oak Sanitation Services, 770-536-7868.
